Chapter 6, Look to the Light

Look to the Light

Consider the purposes of the Lord: Luke 1:79, “To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.” The way of peace is setting things back into right order. This is love and reconciliation with God first and then with our neighbors. Satan leads in the way of strife. The devil wants to maintain enmity (hosility, hatred) between God and man, and between men. 2 Corinthians 4:6, “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” The knowledge of God is to walk in the great commandments of love. Jesus said: John 12:46, “I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.” Those who approach God’s light will no longer abide in or love the darkness (Jn 3:19-21). These will no longer be at enmity with God and their fellow man. This is a huge sifting point between wheat and chaff.

When the author prayed (petitioned) to the Lord for the solution to all this historical confusion regarding the church, the Lord said, “Look to the Light” (God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all, 1 Jn 1:5). Christ is the light of the world and truth & life will only be found in Him. Hebrews 12:2, “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith…” If you want to know the truth and the way, it will only be found in Jesus (Jn 14:6). In thine light shall we see light (Ps 36:9). John 8:12, “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” The Lord is my light and my salvation (Ps 27:1). The Lord’s light will reveal His true gospel of love. 1 John 2:8, “Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth. He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.” The true light of Christ reveals that we cannot, hate, kill or participate in war. To walk in the light of the Lord is to not learn war anymore (Is 2:4-5). Those that do have been exposed by the light (Jn 3:20) and they abide in death (1 Jn 3:14-15). Death begats death. Here is a good summary of how man’s life must be on earth: by his light I walk through darkness (Job 29:3). The Holy Spirit leads those who surrender and obey by Jesus’ truth through the darkness of this corrupt world.

The Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light and thy God thy glory (Is 60:19-20). Isaiah 45:22, “Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.” History has revealed that those who looked to God (sought Him) found Him. History has revealed that those who looked to “religious” man were led greatly astray. This was the condition that existed at the time of Christ. Jesus came in the midst of religious man as a great light to reveal God’s truth and deliver from the darkness. The Lord said to the esteemed religious men: Matthew 23:33, “Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?” AND “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do (Jn 8:44).” Those lusts included murder and false teaching (abiding not in the truth). Isaiah 55:6, “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near.”

Those who seek Jesus will find Him. Matthew 7:7-8, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:  For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” Jesus says: Revelation 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” The true sheep will hear Jesus (Lk 11:28, Jn 10:3, 27, 18:37, Rev 3:20). The true sheep will follow in what the Lord says (Jn 10:3-4, 27, Rev 22:14). What will they hear? Luke 6:27-29, 35-36, “But I (Jesus) say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other…But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.” Those who come to Christ heareth His sayings, and doeth them (Lk 6:47, 11:28). Those things which Jesus said will judge all men one day. John 12:48, “He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.” For those who continue to justify war, strife, violence, etc. – you simply haven’t heard Jesus. This is a message for he that hath ears to hear (Mt 11:15, 13:9, 43, Mk 4:9, Lk 8:8, 14:35). For all you others: Deuteronomy 29:4, “Yet the LORD hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day (also Jn 12:40).”

The answers are only to be found in Jesus. Man has tried thousands of things, thousands of ways over thousands of years. The truth will only be found and sustained in Jesus Christ. Jesus is “The Truth” and there is none other (Jn 14:6). Jesus is “The Way” to the Father and there is none other (Jn 14:6). God’s truth will not be institutionalized or controlled by man. Man’s “ways,” always fail in the end. The quickest way to lose the truth is to attempt to regulate it – to control, order, standardize, methodize, etc. History has clearly shown that every move of God that man attempted to institutionalize and control lost the life it once had – it died. Even so, man in his stubborn will continues to attempt to revive that which is dead – these lifeless religious institutions continue on. It is only when you approach God in a completely surrendered state (contrite, repentant, humble) that His life will begin to flow through you. Jesus is “The Life” and the only life (Jn 14:6). Jesus said it, can we not hear? The “way,” the “truth,” and the “life” is only to be found in Him (Jn 14:6). Only a thief and a robber will seek another way. A thief and robber will take Christ’s glory that He is due by seeking for a way that bypasses Him (Jn 10:1). Theology (man’s religious requirements, creeds, confessions, statements of faith, etc.) only stands in the way of the Holy Ghost working in you. God worketh in you what is well pleasing in His sight (Heb 13:21) – thus you must surrender and obey the Lord’s workings.

Turn you eyes upon Jesus; look full in His wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow strangely dim; in the light of His glory and grace (based upon 2 Cor 4:6).
